The Q'eros Nation.- The Q'eros Inca Nation is located in the province of Paucartambo behind the snowcapped Apu Sinaq'ara in the Vilcanota mountain range in the department of Cusco, it has different landscapes with a variety of microclimates (five ecological floors), being the fact that determines their displacement from one place to another in each season and thus satisfying their natural needs. The Q'eros are people with deeply ancestral Inca customs who have left their great intellectual achievements of all times to the Andean peoples which were passed down from generation to generation, the Q'eros people survived until now in function to the laws of the universe & the cooperation, practicing the administrative & political organization of the community that is the basic social unit where nobody is an individual owner of the land, because that belongs to all the community. Of all the Q'eros groups these are the least known, mainly because their community is remote & high at 4,800 meters. Once you get to the route into the mountains, it's a day trek with pack horses over a 5,000 meter pass, then down into the Amazon basin to the other side. The landscape is striking, passing by alpine lakes & snowfields, the village is nestled high in the mountains.
Shamanic Ceremony - The Q'eros have a number of elders & shamans who still practice authentic Inca & pre-Inca ceremonies. Because of their isolation, some of their ritual and cultural practices have been preserved. These ceremonies can take many hours to complete. The shamanic tradition in the community is very strong and the older men are quite protective and concerned about the maintenance of their culture & shamanic ways. Their healing work is done in their local community, where there are no medicines or hospitals. The House of the Q'eros: It's made of stone walls & earthen adobes with straw roof; in this place live from old people to babies, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chicken, etc. Rooms have a narrow, small door without windows, that always are smoky, the rooms are: kitchen, dining room, bedroom, all in a single piece. Bed are sheets of sheepskin & llama skin covering with the blankets that they hand-weave by themselves; they sleep with the same clothes they wear during daytime, which are the poncho & "unku".
Payment to the Mother Earth (Fertility): This is a ritual of payment to the mother earth for the fertility and good procreation of seeds, animals and men the songs & music of the quechuas are the expression of their spiritual connection since the different westerners arrived in the Tawantinsuyo Empire. The Inca music is a big mystery, with mixtures of feeling groans, piercing vocals of spiritual feelings.
