PISAC with its important extensive archaelogical site atop a mountain with strategic views along 3 valleys and traditional typical market below. OLLANTAYTAMBO to see the famous Pacarictampu and Inca princess bath fountain. CHINCHERO with his San Pedro colonial Church and extense Inca sanctuary.
This tour is a superb way to see the impressive Andes mountains rising up from the Sacred Valley which contains Inca temples, residences, altars, channels, carvings, tunnels/caves and the famous Inti Huatana in towns such as Pisac, Ollantaytambo & Chinchero.
The spectacular Sacred Valley of the Incas, named sacred because of its immensely fertile area irrigated by the Wilcamayu (Urubamba) river, it is really admirable. Here you can see how Inca architects believed in the importance of not divorcing men from their surroundings. They combined human necessities with what earth, air, land & nature offered.
At the entrance of the Sacred Valley you find Pisac. A picturesque mestizo colonial town which shows perfectly how the Incas were able to grow crops on the steep mountainsides by building terraces. Pisac is famous for its Indian market and for the ancient cemetery in the slopes above town. Passing through Lamay, Yucay, Calca & Urubamba we reach Ollantaytambo - a LIVING inca city with its straight streets, its trapezoidal doors and its walls carved with delicate designs. People over here have adapted to the modern era without losing their identity. To get to the Inca ruins above you must climb a series of well-laid steps.
