Colca Canyon
The city of Arequipa is the 3rd largest city in Peru and one of major importance in southern Peru. It is the capital of the province & department of Arequipa, and is commonly known as "The White City" for its numerous and magnificent temple constructions, convents, homes and palaces using white stone. This white rock is originally of volcanic origin and is intricately sculpted. It is a picturesque place that combines the beauty of the green countryside with the overwhelming presence of volcanoes and snow-covered mountains. It has an excellent climate with almost 300 days of sunshine per year and a defining blue sky. In addition, the city offers exquisite cuisine, beautiful countryside with lovely spots for picnicking & camping.
